An embarrasing confession first. When I started this book I thought that it's the one the movie 'Belle de Jour' is based on. Googling revealed my error. Hopefully, my intellectual credibility can be partially rehabilitated by the fact that I never saw 'Belle de Jour' and only know it from short glimpses caught in magazines or briefly watching a few scenes while switching channels on TV.
