One family discovers how God can redeem any tragedy.
At first, Daria finds comfort only in the daughter born to her after Nate’s tragic death. As she begins to heal, she also finds a listening ear and a tender heart in her new boss, veterinarian Colson Hunter. Determined to move forward with life, Daria ignores the still small voice calling her to wait and accepts Cole’s marriage proposal. But after the wedding, Daria’s new dream life turns into a nightmare with the arrival of an unbelievable telegram: “Nathan Camfield found alive. Flying into K.C. Int’l. via Bogota…”
Now two men have the right to her daughter, her life, and her love. Will Daria return to her beloved first husband, abandoning Cole? Or will she reject Nate and choose the only man her daughter has ever called “Daddy”--a man she has come to cherish with all her heart?

One of the best books that I have read . . . well, EVER! This book has it all: spiritual depth, lovable and well-developed characters, conflict, good storytelling AND good writing (we know that there is a difference) . . . I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, yet I didn't want it to end. I don't know how this much time went by for me to have never heard of this book, but I'm glad I read it! I have already ordered the paperback of book 2, and I hear that the author has plans to write a thirdABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! If you want a good clean stomach clencher...this one is it. You can't put it down. If you don't like tears...don't read. Good ending though :)

A story of sorrow, of second chancesThis is such a story of love so deep, love lost, sorrow . It has stirred so many emotions, it is hard to put into words. Deep in Columbia, a young couple are called to minister. He goes to another village and, presumably, He is killed. She returns to the states, and after several years remarries. He returns. The anguish of all involved is heartbreaking as they struggle to do what is right. This is a must read book!
I loved this! I think this is some of the best Christian Fiction I have ever read. Partly because it doesnt just focus on the characters coming to faith, but on their life after faith, the mistakes that are still made and the constant need for redemption. This is not a typical love story, it will make you feel sad, and even angry at times, but isnt that real life? And doesnt god work through our real life messes?Sorry if this review is a bit of mess, but I just had to stay up to finish it... and
This is an outstanding read. Excellent prose writing. An unusual plot. A problem that does not seem to have a solution. God has a way of working things out. even if you think there is no solution.Faith, Love and patience. You will think about this long after you finish the last page.I can highly recommend Beneath a Southern Sky and will look forward to reading other books by this author, Deborah Raney
Had a hard time getting into this initially, but I did get hooked eventually. This is a heart-wrenching tale about listening to God's voice (or the consequences of not listening), forgiveness and sacrifice. Some parts of it are so hard to get through because you know what is coming. The ending was satisfying though, as the story seems to come full circle and God restores what was sacrificed to an extent.
