Crit Appertaining To Books Beyond the Night (The Darkest Minds #3.5)
I like the other short stories, but this one seemed like when tv shows take one shows characters and puts them on anthor show. Alexandra Bracken (in science terms) didnt model the boundry in her drawing, so it wasn't my favorite but it did add a better understanding of the series and the characters in it.

"and in time, rise like sparks beyond the night." This is why I love Alexandra Bracken so much. It makes so much sense and you realize it's the titles of the books and it's also how she ended the book and wow. And THEN you realize she did the same thing with her other books. I mean The Darkest Minds Never Fade In The Afterlight? Makes sense? Hell frickin yeah. All these novellas are officially on my best of the best shelf. And that's not even enough.

This was a really good book! Mia wasnt my favorite character but I loved reading about Sam again!!! And its so cool to know Ruby is helping the other reds! And FINALLY!!! Sam and Lucas got their happy ending :)

This was a freaking ride, let me tell you. First off, it was definitely what I needed after finishing "In the Afterlight" because I was left with SO many questions and feelings of uncertainty, but this novella helped ease a lot of that. I was really happy to be back with Sam and Lucas, and to finally be able to meet Mia, but I was also absolutely thrilled to find my way back to the original group. I almost screamed when Vida showed up and saved Sam and Mia from that prison-like holding area

Oh my gosh. Alexandra Bracken is a seriously talented author. She weaves these incredible stories in such a short span. This little story seriously tugged on my heartstrings. The ending even made me tear up. I LOVED it. I definitely think this novella in particular, and by extension Sparks Rise since this is a continuation of the events in that one, is a MUST read after In the Afterlight. There are so many threads that are tied up that the main trilogy would not be complete without.

Alex never fails to write the best books.
