Representaion Concering Books Mommy's Angel

After her big brother Curtis is gunned down in the streets of Brooklyn, Angel's family crumbles. Grief stricken, her mother turns to heroin to ease her pain. She doesn't notice that her son has no food or that her daughters' clothes are torn and dirty. Worst of all, she doesn't see what her boyfriend does to Angel behind closed doors.

Desperate to support her younger brother and sister, Angel hits the streets looking for anything or anyone to help. But she's fifteen years old, so options for legal work are few. As a last resort, she turns to her brother's best friend, Antoine, who arranges for a job for her at a strip club. It's only supposed to be for a while, until she can get her working papers.

Angel is convinced she won't fall victim to the streets like her mother. But the fast life has its temptations and a magical ability to make you forget.

Article Out Of Books Mommy's Angel

This book is not well written. It is all telling, and no showing. I couldn't connect to the main character at all.

WHOA...is all I can say to describe this book.The ride was wild. I thought it was going to be the usual growing up with crack head mother selling herself to the streets to make money urban lit story. It was SO much more than that. The ending blew my mind to the point where I had to read it again to make sure.

I am really disappointed in this book, especially that crazy and disheveled ending. I don't want to give the book away but there really isn't too much else to say about it. Typical urban book, troubled youth, crack head parents, teenage pregnancy and rape, etc. etc. Nothing new or exciting. Then comes a rushed ending that makes absolutely no sense and made me feel like I had wasted my time reading the book.

I loved this book. It's about a girl having to find her own way to live because her only guardian that really took care of her was her oldest brother but he died from a drive-by. Her mother was a drug addict who didn't provide for her little brother or sister. All her mother really cared for was her boyfriend who was also a drug addict that raped her and tried to rape her little sister. I loved this book. I loved all the twists. I allowed a friend to read it and she was brought to tears. I might become one of Miasha's biggest fans. I'm going to get my hands on her other books. Loved it. Loved it! Loved it!
