Matt Fisher was a normal boy--until he found the Door. The Door that led to the House. The House whose Doors opened into places all over the world--and into worlds that had been, and would be, and even never were. But Matt wasn't the only one who'd found his way in. Now he had something the man named Twig wanted, something that could sow the seeds to everything's destruction. Critique Based On Books Unlatched (Latchkeys #1)

A new children's fantasy series, by Steven Savile and others, gets off to a good start in this first installment. The story introduces Matt Fisher, a teenage boy who has lost his mother, and whose father's work takes him out on the road most of the time. While he doesn't know it, Matt is special. Specifically, he's special to the mysterious house of Tanglewood. Having grown around the tree at the heart of the world, Tanglewood is filled with doors leading to times and places throughout

Steven Savile (born October 12, 1969, in Newcastle, England) is a British fantasy, horror and thriller writer, and editor living in Sala, Sweden. Under the Ronan Frost penname (inspired by the hero of his bestselling novel, Silver) he has also written the action thriller White Peak, and as Matt Langley was a finalist for the People's Book Prize.

A wonderful new YA series that is Goosebumps meets Doctor Who meets Scooby Doo. A fast, fun read by an author well known for his media tie-in and original work. This is the first book in the series.

Quite an enjoyable read with just enough magic and mystery to make for a hard to put down book. I read this one in less than a day and a half as I couldn't let it go. I always needed to read just a little bit more. Hope my students will love this one.
