My grandfather was a very avid reader. He was the one who recommended books to me when I would spend hours just surfing bookshelves in our local library. It was through him that I got familiar with the works of Tolstoy , Pearl S Buck , Charles Dickens and some great Indian authors like Mulk Raj Anand , K.M.Munshi and Jawaharlal Nehru. I had read Glimpses Of World History by Nehru and loved it but somehow never read this beautiful little collection of letters Jawaharlal Nehru sent his 10 yrs old

A book not just for a daughter but for any parent which gives an indication of how a Dad set up his daughter for the future ! Not only does the letters give an insight of India but whats the beauty of looking at it and the way a dad makes his daughter see the world thru his eyes , words play around the envisioning of the story Dad wanted to tell to his daughter who was far away !

These letters seem to be written effortlessly, though it has complex content, so that 10-year-old Indira. The lessons given are indeed very complex for a person to understand at such a tender age. I loved the book and wished I read it when I was a little girl but its never too late for a wonderful as this. The book is voyage of beautiful understandings of JN about creations, existence and worldly affairs. The way he puts it all together and elaborates it, illustrates how families play vital role in reshaping the way we look at each other and understand each other, as well as accept each other with all differences. Beautiful read.

Out standing. No wonder what gave Indira Gandhi the ability to lead a nation. Nehru had started sowing the seeds from very beginning.

A good read, if you're 10, and if it were 1980s. It has a lot of information, but a lot of it is presented as speculations which we know as facts in the present day; it's a book that has failed to pass the test of time.The letters try to tell us that nothing is unimportant. We should keep learning, and exploring the world around us!

An interesting compilation of letters that covers million years of Earth till 3000 to 4000 years back. I was reading this book, I felt I did miss it during my childhood. I could also understand Jawaharlal Nehru's perspectives on war, woman freedom, independence, God, Preists, Kings, Dravidian and Aryan Divide, Plurality of our great country, etc. It is a great book for children since it gives a quick summary of million years. I have already gifted two books.
