Representaion Conducive To Books Fred and Lydia Take London By Storm
I greatly enjoyed Marie Lawrence’s previous books and with “Fred and Lydia Take London By Storm,” Lawrence simply knocks it out of the park. The characters and story are endearing, the story a pure joy and the verse lyrical. I love Lawrence’s infusion of Shakespeare… such a clever way to introduce him to a young audience. The vocabulary list in the back of the book is not only a fabulous learning tool for children, but also an inventive process that allows parents to share this learning experience with their sons and daughters. If you want an extra, special treat, you’ll find it in the delicate illustrations… another of Lawrence’s unique talents. It’s clear that Lawrence enjoys working with children to cultivate a greater capacity to feel empathy for the lives of others – people as well as animals. I’ll end this review by saying “Fred and Lydia Take London By Storm” is not only for children, but also for any adult with a remembrance of the joys of childhood. (I’m on my second reading!)
