Chronicle Conducive To Books Snow
Todd Curry wants nothing more than to spend Christmas with his son. But when a brutal snowstorm cancels his flight from Chicago to Des Moines, Todd and a few other stranded passengers decide to rent a Jeep and make the trip on their own. During the drive, they pick up a man wandering through the snow, who claims to be searching for his lost daughter. He is disoriented and his story seems peculiar. Strangest of all are the mysterious slashes cut into the back of the man’s coat, straight down to the flesh…When they arrive at the nearest town, it appears deserted. Windows dark, car abandoned, fired burning unattended. But Todd and the rest of the travelers soon learn the town is far from deserted, and that they are being watched…
And hunted.
The Altar 13 hardcover edition of Snow contained bonus material:
•“Weathering The Storm” (The Origins Of Snow)
•“I Let Them In” (Original short story related to the novel)

Todd and a few stranded passengers have to head into a nearby town after getting waylaid by a storm during a flight. They stop to help a man who claims his child is lost in the storm, but when they go for help the stumble onto an empty town. It doesn't take long to discover there's some seriously-eerie stuff involved with this particular snowfall, and they must figure out how to beat it if they hope to survive. There's something enchanting about thrillers or horror set in a snow-filledanother goosebumps maker for me since king's pet sematarythe faceless girl is fair, and that guy's ear-to-ear grin, just reminds me of Kuchisake-Onna/口裂け女/A Slit Mouthed Woman/裂口女...AWSHEET!
I'm about 40% in and this is a perfect book for lounging around in scorching sun on the deck on Boxing Day. It's a little like 30 Days of Night in premise--small band of survivors holing up in a snowbound town full of ethereal snow demons who can take over human bodies and use them, puppet master-like. It's creepy, taut and well written with some likeable characters.I'll update when done (or burnt to a crisp).Finished. This is a very easy read, perfect for light holiday amusement. It's not a
I was introduced to the work of Author Ronald Malfi with his Floating Staircase, a novel of literary horror and familial entanglement, an excellent story. Snow is more straight horror, a novel which might edge on science fiction, but is primarily horror, and very horrifying indeed. The implacable nature and extent of the threat to our protagonists and to the townspeople of Woodson kept me awake, determined to finish the novel so I could actually sleep. Snow: a natural occurrence in many locales,
Snow. What can I say about it. I love snow, I know that, I mean real snow, much to many peoples chagrin. But this Snow, is something to love. Something to take into yourself and read with relish. The term Old school Horror has been battered about and used on many a book cover, to define how this book should read. In this case, Ronald Malif accomplishes the job with steady and precise conviction.First things first. When I was scoping out my next horror/monster novel to read, I came across the
Really eerie book, well-written and very suspenseful. It was great to find and well-worth reading.
Really 2 and a half. Horror novel with lots of action, but not alot of a sense of fear. A group of people trapped in a small town by a snowstorm must fight off an attack by snow wraiths that possess human bodies. The wraiths might as well be zombies or any other creature attacking humans, because nothing new is brought to the story. Attack, fight, survive. A quick read, but not much else.
