Explanation Toward Books The New Rulers of the World
John Pilger is one of the world’s renowned investigative journalists and documentary film-makers. In this fully updated collection, he reveals the secrets and illusions of modern imperialism. Beginning with Indonesia, he shows how General Suharto’s bloody seizure of power in the 1960s was part of a western design to impose a ‘global economy’ on Asia. A million Indonesians dies as the price for being the World Bank’s ‘model pupil’. In a shocking chapter on Iraq, he allows us to understand the true nature of the West’s war against the people of that country. And he dissects, piece by piece, the propaganda of the ‘war on terror’ to expose its Orwellian truth. Finally, he looks behind the picture postcard of his homeland, Australia, to illuminate an enduring legacy of imperialism, the subjugation of the First Australians.Rating Containing Books The New Rulers of the World

Four well-written pieces, covering different parts of the world and periods of modern history. The writing doesn't focus entirely on the political and historical themes, but is illustrated by individual case studies and interviews, which gives the book a more personal feel. The Model Pupil. The Great Game. Must read essays.
This is ESSENTIAL reading for anyone who is a fan of Noam Chomsky, George Monbiot, Naomi Klein or the truth. It deals succinctly with the exposure of corporate greed and it's effects on human populations, debunking of governmental & corporate propaganda and many more things. It is a long time since a factual book has set my synapses firing on all cylinders as vividly as reading John Pilger's work. If you want a book that will put iron in your spine, take an active role in the world around you
Pilger is en exemplar of quality journalism, holding power to account. Despite this being written quite a few years ago it is still totally relevant. Highly recommended.
Fabulous reading! Even though this book covers a lot of factual things through out the chapters, but the journalistic style Pilger exhibit just made it easy to chew. One fact shocking about what this book uncovers is about Indonesia. I never really know about it before I read Pilger's. It has to be admitted how the state and corporations are now ruling the world; a lot of documentaries had been made to expose it. However, reading this does not has to make us pessimistic (on how less we can
The New Rulers of the World is a string of images, the instants that reveal the world as it truly is. Spoken with candor, openness, and impressive journalist investigation - this book bares open truths of Indonesian, American, and Australian history that discusses themes including geopolitics, the abuse of human rights and dignity, policies of racism, the war on terrorism, genocide, the military-industrial complex, and the role of the media. It's a outstanding to-the-point take on conventional
