Rendition In Pursuance Of Books The Ordinary Us

I love a good story with tons of angst and this one delivered in spades. I needed some anti-anxiety medication on hand for this one. Quinn was a perfect main character. He was needy, selfish, afraid, angry and just plain mixed up inside and out, the poor dear. I still found myself being upset or rather frustrated with him most of the time because of the way he treated people. He would have these big epiphanies then revert back to being a selfish jerk (which is really just a typical 17 yr. old). I could never stay mad at him because the author did a wonderful job at allowing us into Quinn’s head, which is why I needed the anxiety medication. I really did sympathize with him and I completely understood his fears and his self-loathing. Jude was amazing; I absolutely loved him to pieces. He was exactly the kind of person Crazy!Quinn needed. I could go on and on about the awesomeness of Jude. Bree wins the award for best little sister ever. She really went to bat for her big bro. I thought Brad and his parents (Mama B) were wonderful. I felt the struggle that Brad went through while trying to accept Quinn was very realistic. I hated to see them fight, but they had some stuff to work through. Yeah, we know why Quinn was acting “different”…that doesn’t change the fact that Brad felt very hurt and he needed some time to adjust to this new side of Quinn. I was afraid their friendship wasn’t going to make it so I’m glad it worked out in the end. Taylor was another character that I took a liking to. He was very loyal to his friends and he helped Quinn out with something major (two major things actually, lol). Based on his description, I just wanted to stuff him with food and then find him a hot boyfriend. I didn’t warm to Mar very much. She gets points for supporting Quinn and trying to make amends to become a better friend. I tried to give Quinn’s mom a chance, really I did. She found a way to help Jude enroll in school and made his parents contribute to his finances. I was so glad when she didn’t go to CPS. I knew her goodwill towards Jude wouldn’t last once Quinn revealed his “secret”. I have to be honest I was more worried about Jude getting hurt. He already told Quinn about the way his parents treated him. He admitted to only having two friends and Murphy. I think Jude was starting to view Quinn’s mom as a surrogate mom even though he was annoyed with meddling in his life. It was hard to seeing him get close to her knowing she would probably reject him once everything was out in the open. Jude does a great job of covering up his vulnerabilities by putting on a strong front. I got the feeling that he’s still very sensitive when it comes to being rejected by someone he cares about. Don’t get me wrong Quinn’s anguish broke my heart. Quinn wanted to come home so bad, he thought things would be fine when he went home. It was so painful to read how his mom treated him inside the house. She ignored him when he would speak directly to her or ignore him at the dinner table and such. I’m sure I left out a ton of things that pissed me off or made me laugh and cry. I enjoyed the hell out of this story…can’t believe it was free! Thanks MandyM for linking this in one of your other reviews.

Holy teen angsty highschool drama crack, Batman! The Agony! After this one and Call Me by Your Name I am going to look for some senior citizen m/m, just to get away from the 17 year olds for a while, although the two stories couldn't be more different. But then I am going to have to go right back and read more of DomLuka's stories. Like most writers with their stories online he needs a decent editor to remove the bloat and solve all the your/you're problems and all that. Still: crack.

Very long story! It took me a few days to read it all. There are some mistakes and typos and some parts are a little dragged on and could be cut, but overall I enjoyed this original fic, which in my opinion is better than many published books I've read. The story is good and feels real, and the cast of characters is wide, interesting and likable. At times, Quinn seems too self-absorbed and whining, but he's a teenager and he's going through a difficult time, so it feels realistic. Jude is a gem,

This had its good moments but I really think this is the first time I have read something where I seriously almost threw my reader. I feel like nothing got resolved. Even when it was supposedly resolved I was left with the feeling of "wait a minute, that can't be resolved. And why are they still fighting if it's resolved." Like another reviewer said, holy teen angst Batman!

I struggled to roughly 3/4 of this book. The reason: the worst super-jerk of a protagonist in any piece of fiction I've read named Quinn Moore. I am just amazed (cause I know personally someone who is the same as he) and disgusted at how selfish and self-absorbed this character is. There were numerous points in the book I am so frustrated with Quinn I am most tempted to just drop it. But I believe in development. Only to be disappointed as he only grew from a super-super asshole to a super

I vacillate between a 3 and a 4 for sheer angst volume in this book, but I really think it does deserve a 4. While teen angst is not my favorite, much if it was required, needed, deserved and understandable. Quinn is at a crossroads of his perfect nice and tidy life when he is confronted with the fact he may be gay. He has thought it over the years, but figured he could choose otherwise. The story unfolds as Quinn looses the control he has on his life and he becomes confused, angry and a whole

Quinn basically needed to pull his head out of his ass throughout the whole book. But the book was pretty okay.
